
Born in Chicago, raised in Windsor, Canada, Michael McNamara works as a television writer/director specializing in music specials and children's television. His credits include Holly Cole - My Foolish Heart, a television music special for which he received the Houston International Film Festival Gold Special Jury Prize, the Chicago Film Festival Silver Hugo and the Canadian Gemini Award for Best Music Program.
McNamara also received a Chicago Film Festival Gold Hugo and a Gemini Award for Best Picture Editing for the television music special Jane Siberry - I Muse Aloud.
He is the director and co-writer of the popular TVO children's television series Polka Dot Shorts and Candles, Snow & Mistletoe, a one-hour musical Christmas Special for Broadway Video and CBC.
The Cockroach That Ate Cincinnati is McNamara's first feature film. He is presently developing a "comic metaphysical thriller" called Sleepy Head, which was cowritten by Michael O'Hara and Noel Baker (Hard Core Logo screenwriter). McNamara promises that Sleepy Head will have a more realistic shooting schedule, a bigger budget, and will be just as much fun!
